The NovoMoto Story
"NovoMoto" means New Energy (Moto in the Lingala language). NovoMoto was founded by Aaron Olson and Mehrdad Arjmand in late 2015 to provide a better solution to the many communities in sub-Saharan Africa that primarily rely on kerosene and candles to keep their homes lit at night. Aaron and Mehrdad knew the there was huge opportunity to help millions of familes after they first worked together to study the energy access issue in the Weinert Applied Ventures in Entrepreneurship Program.
By using a Pay-As-You-Go approach to distributing solar technology, NovoMoto has made the technology affordable and accessible to off-grid rural communities. NovoMoto has been serving rural customers in D.R. Congo with Pay-As-You-Go solar power systems since 2017. The company's goal is to continue to grow its customer base to 5 million throughout Congo and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa
